Fine Silver Rings using a Hollow Form Variation.
It's a Silver thing! In this technique class we will be creating an open design ring!
Learn to fabricate this very dimensional asymmetrical ring with a chamber to hold a treasure of your choice.
This awesome pocket we create can hold... whatever your heart desires!! -- pictured are a variety of crystal stones (bunches of different ones I will bring along for purchase)
as well as shopping around Bead Soup for cabs and beads!
Suitable for advanced beginner to intermediate students, this workshop will cover the following:
Initial design of piece, your personal touch for the outside decoration Size calculations to allow for shrinkage in the firing of the PMC fine silver clay
Rolling silver clay and thickness considerations when using a texture plate.
Propping wet clay for desired dry outcomeSandingJoining dry silver clay to dry clay. the two sides, seamlessly - creating the hollow formSanding, filling, sandingFine tuning details before firing for the best finish after
Firing (which will be done off site and returned to Bead Soup for pick up at a date to be set in class)
Rollers, textures and miscellaneous tools are available for your use in class. If you have metal clay tools already, bring them.
there will be available for additional purchase - a bunch of choices to fill your Mystical Pocket Ring.
Discussion on finishing your ring - "loading" it up - can happen as time allows.
Included is a handout with photos and notes.
