Enchanted Fuchsia Earrings with Cliff Swain Salomon
Growing up, our back patio deck was covered with hanging fuchsia flowers. The bright pinks and purples of some of the flowers and crisp whites of others were so vibrant and cheerful and the sweet nectar inside drew in ruby throated hummingbirds. There are around 110 different varietals of fuchsia and they are mainly indigenous to South America. In ancient lore, fuchsias were said to represent confiding love and are given as a way of expressing your trust in someone. They also were used for protection when placed in front of someone’s house. In other cultures, since the shape of the flower looks like a woman twirling her skirt, the flowers were believed to be able to make fairies.I chose these flowers due to their graceful and unique dewdrop shape with a cupped cluster of 4 petals in the center and a skirt of 4 triangle shaped sepals which create the perfect delicate earrings. The sepal petals are modular and can be adjusted each time you wear the earrings to appear as if the flower is in various stages of bloom. The center style, stigma, filament, and anthers are made out of a sterling silver or 14/20 gold chain tassel with 12 gem quality freshwater pearls and custom coated Swarovski crystals on the end of each fringe.
This is for intermediate and above. You must know the peyote stitch
