Journals For Travel or Special Occasions with Laura Hummel
JOURNALS FOR TRAVEL OR SPECIAL OCCASIONS
Make your vacation or special event truly memorable by creating a book in a creative way to share with friends .We will make a journal before a trip or special event, bring it with you to write, draw, paint, and add paper memorabilia, tickets, etc. We will be using watercolor paper and design our covers with papers provided by the instructor. You will learn to make pockets, folds, tip-ins ,and various other ideas for visual interest and texture. We will bind the journals in class, but you are not finished yet…you will continue to add to the pages as you travel and add photos when you get home. Journals can also be used for a special occasion…birthday, anniversary, wedding…the sky is the limit!
The instructor will provide paper materials and bookbinding thread to make your book. I will also have watercolors and brushes. Please bring the following items:
Scissors
Double sided tape…I like 1/2 inch and 3/4 inch
A glue stick
Paper ephemera you may have collected…photos, postcards, pamphlets, tickets, famous landmarks…Coliseum, Eiffel Tower, flag,…there are some pictures you can get on line.
A few black permanent pens of different sizes…I like a .5 and one smaller and one larger…Pitt and Sakura are good to use.
I like to use colored pencil or pens sometimes (optional
I have made dozens of travel journals and enjoy reliving my trip from time to time.
Supply fee of $25 to be paid to Laura the day of class. Please bring cash for your supply fee
